A 50 year old custom machine shop was invisible to AI search. We rebuilt them to be cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
The Problem
Our client is a family owned custom machinery shop in Northern Ohio, in business for more than 50 years. They design and fabricate industrial equipment for food processing, packaging, and specialty manufacturers across three states. (We have anonymized the client name in this public case study.)
Their decade old site read like a brochure. We tested it against ChatGPT and Perplexity, and neither AI assistant could find or cite them when prospects asked about custom fabricators in their region. Their previous quote from a conventional industrial marketing agency was in the high four figures and would have taken six weeks.
What We Built
Ten public pages, one dedicated product page, and a private admin portal. Every public page is server rendered HTML so AI crawlers can read it without executing JavaScript.

Discovery and Architecture
90 minute on site session with the owner and lead engineer. AI assisted competitor research across a dozen Midwest fabrication shops. Eleven page architecture mapped and approved by end of day.

Content and Build
AI drafted every page in about seven hours from the interview audio and project files. Engineer review on a same day video call. Built on a modern AI friendly framework that ships fully rendered HTML on every page (critical because AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript). Hundreds of phone photos enhanced with AI for consistent lighting and placed with descriptive alt text.

AEO, Local SEO, and Launch
Every page got unique title and meta description tags, canonical links, Open Graph and Twitter Card tags. Sitewide JSON-LD: ManufacturingBusiness schema with full NAP, geo coordinates, hours, founding date, service area, and aggregate rating. WebSite schema with SearchAction. FAQPage schema covering 20 questions. Added llms.txt, robots.txt, an auto generated sitemap, semantic h1/h2/h3 hierarchy, and a native HTML accordion FAQ. Built and verified a Google Business Profile aligned to the new site, then pushed live.
